This HitchHiker owner is commenting about the current economic difficulty for those manufacturers striving to provide superior quality and service, and to gain the attention of so many Rv buyers who might be too focused on price and the deal. Like many experienced RV'ers the author feels more consumers would be better served putting less focus on price, and more on the value of the total ownership experience. Please see the customer's comments below. -- Mike Mitchell.
...It's not just the RV industry. Many people are more interested in "the deal" as opposed to the end product. There will always be buyers who look for quality, but not as many of them... perhaps not enough of them to support the number of manufacturers who truly are looking to produce a quality product (thus, the demise of some good brands). The RV buyer who IS looking for a quality product is likely more experienced... perhaps having learned the hard way that cheaper isn't the answer when it comes to a mobile lifestyle (and not just an occasional weekend outing).
We were experienced RVers, having moved up from gas motorhomes to diesel pushers over the years. Our HitchHiker is our first 5th wheel, and we were looking for quality AND value when we wrote the check. Going to the NuWa factory and seeing how they are built convinced us. Talking to other NuWa owners and participating in this forum convinced us. The value we received is beyond "intangible"... we can see and feel the difference everytime we step into our coach.
