NuWa upgraded the capacity ratings of the Receiver Hitch beginning with the 2008 model year. Nothing changed in the design of the installation; we are just increasing the ratings based on tests which have been completed.
Establishing these ratings is more a concern of liability than an effort to publicize the maximum capacity that might successfully be handled. Part of the issue is one of braking capability for the added weight, and part of the issue is the difficulty to "replicate" the long term impact of the "bouncing effect" experienced by a moving RV. These are our new ratings for receiver hitches, which in reality would be acceptable on some previous models:
| Model | Year | Load cap | Towing cap |
| NuWa (all products) |
2010 | 400 lbs. |
3000 lbs. |
| HHII LS (VIN starts with 1C9) |
2006 - 2008 | 320 lbs. | 3000 lbs. |
| NuWa Lippert frame | 2007 - 2009 | 320 lbs. | 3000 lbs. |
| NuWa Young's frame | 2005 - 2009 | 400 lbs. | 3000 lbs. |
Remember that the tongue load will reduce your CCC, and that you may want to consider heavy duty brakes as well.
