We at NuWa understand that some customers may want to take their toys with them without purchasing a Sport Utility Trailer and without having to pull an additional trailer behind them. However, we must point out that hauling items on the rear of a fifth wheel is like standing on the end of a diving board and then slowly jumping up and down (smooth road.)
As long as you don't exert too much pressure on the diving board (stay on smooth roads,) nothing much happens, but if you start jumping up and down (drive on most roads) something bad is going to happen sooner or later.
By putting a weight limitation on our receiver hitch (frame) we are attempting to minimize that something. The weight limitations are placed on a label located next to your receiver hitch. Previous model years typically were rated for up to 200 lbs. tongue load (this is the maximum weight that can safely hang directly on the rear of our unit,) and 2,500 lbs. trailer load (this is the maximum weight that can be safely towed behind one of our units.) We have recently upgraded the ratings as listed below:
| Model | Year | Load cap | Towing cap |
| NuWa (all products) |
2010 | 400 lbs. |
3000 lbs. |
| HHII LS (VIN starts with 1C9) |
2006 - 2008 | 320 lbs. | 3000 lbs. |
| NuWa Lippert frame | 2007 - 2009 | 320 lbs. | 3000 lbs. |
| NuWa Young's frame | 2005 - 2009 | 400 lbs. | 3000 lbs. |
This may not seem like a lot of weight, but once again, when placed at the end of a diving board....... Also, if you compare what NuWa offers to other manufacturers, I think you will find that we are one of the few that even offer a receiver hitch option.
Remember also that any weight added to the receiver hitch will reduce your Cargo Carrying Capacity as well.
